Derek joined the PYC Team in February 2017. He has over fifteen years of restaurant and hospitality experience, five years in private club management. While attending Appalachian State University, Derek began his career in 2005, with the Switzerland Inn in the mountains of NC. Starting as a server, Derek fine tuned his skills in bar tending and special events. After seven years, Derek moved to Asheville and joined the Cliffs at Walnut Cove. Starting as a server, he ultimately made his way through the ranks to restaurant manager. In 2016, Derek was offered the position of Food & Beverage Manager at Balsam Mountain Preserve. After successfully building a strong team and restoring the food and beverage program, he has joined the team at The Peninsula Yacht Club.
Derek is an active member of the CMAA and is currently working on his Level 1 Sommelier & Cicerone certifications. He will be living in Mooresville with his girlfriend, Farrah. When he’s not working, he enjoys playing disc golf, cooking at home, and running.
